Testing metallic threads: ThreadWorx (Kreinik) and Accentuate

ThreadWorx

#711453 Espresso Roast (on the website, they marked it as 411453)

https://www.threadworx.com

An ideal base for creating branches and especially tree trunks in the foreground.

Tree trunk: I lay the threads close together, and then partially wrap them with other threads, but so that the texture of the main threads is visible. If necessary, you can add miniature French knots to create moss or lichen.

Embroidery needle #5 (It was a little hard to thread this thread into it, but I did it!)

The next threads: Accentuate (30wt thread - 70% Polyamide/30% Metallic Polyester 50m spool)

I was looking for a replacement for the YLI Sparkle Silk threads (pictured below), as I assume they may be discontinued.

As a result, I’ve found Accentuate threads, although I cannot say that they are the same. You can see the difference in how they are twisted.

I like that the shine varies, even though it’s all within a single product line of threads.

#384 - I’m going to use this kind of shine for the background in miniature embroidery, or if I need to get barely noticeable shine.

#126 - If you enjoy decorative embroidery, you might like this gold. Just look at that bright shine! In my case, I’m planning to use it to embroider a sunny autumn day.

#302 - Add it to pink flowers ^^ This shine is my favorite - greenish-golden luster. Look, how beautiful it’s laid on canvas, the shine feels almost weightless.

I always forget to mention this, threading twisted metallic is quite tricky, so it really takes practice! I usually start with my favorite needle, the DMC beading needle #12, and if after many attempts I still can’t get it through, I go one size up. That’s my method ^^

I don’t recommend jumping straight to a big‑eye needle. Remember: the finer the needle, the more delicate your stitches will be, especially if you love tiny French knots and miniature details.

And finally, you can blend these threads with silk, rayon, or cotton, but depending on their thickness, you’ll need a different needle size.
